What are the system requirements for e-Gateway to Mandarin?

Installation Instructions for Oral Practice

What do I need to install in order to do oral practice in each lesson?
Before you can do oral practice, please follow the instructions below:

1. Download Java Policy and save the file as .java.policy into your windows home directory.
Note:
:: If you are using Windows 98, save it under C:\windows
:: If you are using Windows 2000/ME/XP, save it under C:\Documents and Settings\youruserid

2. Download Java Virtual Machine. Click here!

3. After you have completed the above steps, restart your computer. With the use of a computer headset with microphone, you will be able to do oral practice with our special voice recognition software.

Can I change my password?
Yes, you can. After you logged in to your account with your password, click on "Change Password", and then follow the given instructions.

What should I do if I forget my password?
Don't worry. Click on "Forget Password" from the homepage and then type in your username in the given box and click on "Submit". We will send you the new password to your email address.

Can I change my User ID?
No. Each new User ID will be treated as a new account.

Can I access the e-Gateway to Mandarin course anywhere?
Yes! As long as you have Internet access, you can access the course anywhere. All you need to do is log on through the learning site. It's that simple!
